Before Bedtime Yoga
Wednesdays 8-9pm (GMT) online class
Feeling stressed out after a long day?
Having difficulties to sleep?
Needing some relaxation to restore your inner peace?
After a whole day’s work and desiring some movements but it’s so late?
Before Bedtime Yoga is what you need.
Before Bedtime Yoga is designed specifically for late evening yoga practice. It is a combination of self-massage, gentle yoga pose, yogic breathing technique, meditation and relaxation to release the tension built up during the day and bring back the balance in body and mind. This practice is particularly gentle and works to help the body enter the parasympathetic mode for the evening rest. Class is suitable for all levels of yoga practitioners and complete beginners.
The class, informed by my interest in Chinese traditional medicine (TCM) and Ayurvedic studies, is also designed to meet the body needs in different seasons to maximise the health benefit. This is not practicing ayurveda or TCM in the medical sense. Through these holistic approaches, we understand the patterns of energy working in our physiological system in different seasons. Although Ayurveda and TCM originated from two far apart countries, the energy work patterns are surprisingly similar, for after all human bodies respond to the seasons comprehensively. I use this knowledge to adapt the yoga practice to balance our inner energetic work with the outer influence, an approach I myself have very much enjoyed and benefited from.
The class is using zoom meeting, suitable for pc/mac, tablet/ipad and smart phone. If you are wondering how the class meeting works, please click here. If you want to know how to download and use zoom app, you can find the answer here.
First session is free for newcomers to assess if this practice is right for your. Please email Yun-Chung (journeytoease@gmail.com) to book your free newcomer session.

Autumn Term 2022 course (7 September-14 December, with a half-term break on 26 October), 14 sessions in total
1st Part (7 September-19 October) 7 sessions
Autumn is a time when the lungs and colons become most sensitive according to TCM and Ayurveda. Emotional and daily life stress could easily lodge in these areas. The first half term we will practice yoga poses that support breathing and eliminating functions.
2nd Part (2 November-14 December) 7 sessions
We are now deep into Autumn and moving into Winter. The lungs and colon gradually calm down from their peak of workload in the body, while the kidneys and immune system are slowly fired up to work to their best. We will focus on yoga poses that assist breathing and immunity.

Testimonial
“Yun-Chung’s class felt very relaxing straight away and developed into a varied sequence aimed with gentleness at different part of the body. I really enjoyed the sensations of my body loosening and the general lightness that I felt by the end… and I slept very well that night. Highly recommended!” –Silvia Rossi
“I really enjoy the Before Bedtime Yoga class on a Wednesday and for someone who struggles to sleep it is a fabulous exploration and one I plan to continue with. It is a really interesting mix of yoga as well as some traditional Chinese medicine – I find the meridians and self-massage particularly interesting and Yun Chung teaches them gently but informatively throughout the class. Definitely worth attending and after a good nights sleep the world seems an easier place!” –Stella Wardale
“I feel Yun-Chung yoga experience is completely relaxing and helpful to calm the mind, with no acrobatic pressure.” –Junqing Wu
“I have been doing bedtime yoga with Yun-Chung for a few weeks. It strikes me that Yun-Chung has a profound knowledge of ayurvedic yoga, taking a holistic approach to emotions, physicality and spiritual outlook. What is unique about her teaching is the integration of yoga with Chinese medicine philosophy, especially acupuncture points. Her approach to health and wellbeing is to nurture the body, the mind and emotions, and connect them with the energy in the environment. I find her teaching very soothing and feel totally relaxed after bedtime yoga.” –Catherine Wang
“As someone who likes different types of yoga for different purposes (asthanga when full of beans, yin when run down, a “back class” after being on the computer too much ….), I would say that Yun-Chung’s Before Bedtime yoga is indeed the perfect medicine before bed. I am generally a great sleeper, but Yun-Chung’s Before Bedtime yoga brings a whole different level of relaxation. Yun-Chung’s expert application of Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese medicine in her yoga practice will send your parasympathetic nervous system into an otherworldly tranquility. If you can get back up again afterwards – well done!” –Olaug Grude
