Welcome to journey to ease, yoga with yun-chung!
My yoga practice focuses on developing a keen awareness of one’s body and mind and aims to bring ease to our body and mind. At the moment I offer one online Before Bedtime Yoga class (Wednesdays, 8-9pm) and one in-person Thursday Yoga class (Thursdays, 18.30-19.30pm) at Hala Centre, Scotforth.
Before Bedtime Yoga: this is a combination of self-massage, gentle yoga poses, yogic breathing and meditation, various each time, to bring one’s body and mind to balance for the evening rest. The classes are designed to meet the needs in different seasons to maximise the health benefit. It has been well received since its start in May 2020.
Thursday Yoga: Thursday Yoga evening session leads participants to release the tension accumulated during the day. The poses practiced in Thursday Yoga also adapt the body needs in different seasons.

Why “journey to ease?”
Different types of yoga work for different people, and so are the yoga teachers for the practioners. In this part I’d like to explaine why I set my yoga practice as a “journey to ease” as an indication if this type of yoga and me as an intructor are what you are looking for. “Journey to ease,” it may seem self-explanatory that this type of yoga works toward ease–the ease of the body and mind. It is, and it is based on my own yoga journey. My experience with yoga started with meditation. At first, I always fell asleep after 2 minutes of meditation, not to mention any concentration. After some perseverance, I finally overcame the initial sleepiness and learned what to deal with a wandering mind. With the practice of meditation, I realised how primely important it is for the body to be in a state of ease if I ever wanted to meditate for longer than 5 minutes without feeling discomfort and a need to change the posture. I also realised, the state of the body simply indicates/dictates how deeply I can meditate. Then the asana (postural yoga) came to my life. I have always been a reasonably healthy person, but small things–stomach ache, muscle pains, headache–all sorts of daily life roughness were frequently with me. As I practiced asana for meditation daily, all these small illnesses simply fell away, and I started enjoying an excellent state of wellbeing I never knew. During the process of integrating asana and meditation together, I also realised that one can only fully, truly and totally pursue one’s dream or goal (any type and any size of dream or goal) if one is constantly in a state of ease with the body and mind. Otherwise, the friction in the body or in the mind will always demand attention and care, forcing one to turn away from one’s pursuit, even if it is only temporary. When I started teaching yoga, “ease” was the only word in my mind. It tells my experience in yoga; it is the essence of my understanding in yoga; and it is, if anything, what I want to introduce to people who come to practice yoga with me. I do not deny that this state of ease in the body and mind takes time. Therefore, it is a journey, and my practice naturally becomes “a journey to ease, yoga with yun-chung.” Hope this explains it all the core concept behind my yoga practice. You are warmly invited to join me on this journey to ease.
